Great service and great Italian cuisine. They were busy and were gracious enough to make a spot for us, even though we had no reservation. If you're looking for a good Italian meal, and don't mind spending a few bucks, this is great choice.

All the stars are for the services and the view. The food was really really bad. Well, the breads were good. The lobster was undercooked. The NY strip was way way overcooked. My conclusion after two dinners on the Island with two bills totaled $300+, Key West has NO good restaurants period.

My wife and I had our dinner plans for our anniversary fall through, I booked a table at LaTratorria using the 'open table' app. In the comments on my reservation I mentioned it was our anniversary and requested a seat near a window if at all possible. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately right next to the window with a wonderful view of the ocean. We loved the complimentary bread with oil, vinegar and cheese that was served. We made a rookie mistake and ordered Carpaccio without knowing it was raw meat, it looked good but wasn't our cup of tea, so to speak. I ordered the veal marsala and my wife had the chicken parmesan, both were delicious. For desert we got the mousse and some cannoli. Those were both decadent and delicious. They brought out the mousse for my wife with a flaming torch like candle on it since it was our anniversary. When we received our bill the manager had removed the Carpaccio since she could see we didn't like it, as well as removed the cannoli, neither of which we requested to be removed. This was a very nice gesture. My wife and I loved our meal and the staff were all very welcoming, the restaurant is nice looking and clean with a beautiful view of the ocean. We had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend it.

Service was outstanding. Very friendly, extremely attentive but not overbearing. Sat by a window overlooking the ocean...atmosphere just beautiful. Carpaccio best we've ever had, peasano salads delicious. But the best were the pasta dishes. Penne Venezia was to die for...not overly rich, very fresh, fantastically tasty. Tortellini with ham & peas was wonderful as well. Being locals, having so many options, this is one of our favorite restaurants & will be back. By far the best Italian in the Keys!

What a lovely atmosphere to dine. The LaTrattoria was our first day at Key West dinning experience and were left with good impression not only of the delicious food but the ambience and service as well!

We went on the recommendation of a friend who loves good Italian food and vino, and we were not disappointed at all. Everything we ate (and drank) was superb, and the service was top notch. It is only a "slightly" upscale environment, so feel free to wear shorts with your nice collared island shirt. From the scallops and hogfish (you gotta try this fish if you have not before) to the soups and salads, it was a fantastic meal. And we topped it off with the creme brûlée and a tasty chocolate mousse. Even the bread with the reduced balsamic vinegar and olive oil was a wonderfully tasty way to start the evening off. So when in Key West next, try this Oceanside restaurant...well worth it (and you can easily make reservations by calling them or using OpenTable). Tom H

We have been coming here for years on our trips to Key West. On this visit we dined here twice. Our first visit it was an unseasonably cold night in Key West and we shuffled in just glad to find seating for the three of us at the bar. It was BUSY but 50 degrees in Key West will make any place with indoor seating packed to the gills. I am not a big drinker but the martini's here are top notch. The bartender, Cory, was fantastic. I had a delicious chocolate martini that he put his special twist on. If you get a chance, tell him what you like and he will make something special to suit your taste. That is hard to find nowadays and I love the specialized nature of having my drink made just for me! Dinner was the Penne Venezia. When in Key West, you have to have fish with dinner. It doesn't get fresher than this. The crab was perfectly complimented by the sauce but wasn't overwhelmed by it. That is really important to me, I like to taste the fish. This meal was too big for me to finish, as most of their entree's are. That's not a bad problem to have though. No dessert tonight because I was just too full. The second time we dined here was with a party of five. The service was not good. We were constantly trying to track down the waiter to order, get water, etc. It was not even close to the amazing service we had on our first visit and this was only days later. This time I had the hogfish special, I love hogfish and it was cooked perfectly. I had a mocha martini this time and it was delicious. I love my drinks to be sweet enough that the alcohol is a background flavor and this was the perfect fit. Dessert was white chocolate and chocolate mousse. It was heavenly, so light and fluffy. It was sweet without being overwhelming but I still couldn't finish it off! If this had been my first experience with this place after this evening I wouldn't have come back because the service was so poor. We walked in while it was busy but not overly so. By the time we left we were only one of 3 tables left in the dining area. Dinner took much longer than it should have and not in a good way. Overall, the food is always on point and the drinks are delicious but if given the choice I would sit at the bar because the service was exceptional there but lackluster in the actual dining room.

Great views for dinner. Sat on the window and had a perfect view of the Atlantic ocean. Best thing to do is make a reservation and you get the best seats in the house. Food was amazing as well. Lump crab and lobster with the raviolis is to die for.

As an A.S. (ante-script?), this is a review for the Restaurant and Catering Company (Catered Affairs of Key West...a division of the Trattoria Restaurants). It may take me a while to get there, but stick with me, it'll be worth it. About a year ago, my Wife (as of a week ago) and I decided that we were going to have a destination wedding in Key West. Why Key West you may ask? Because it is the polar opposite of Buffalo, New York, the home town from which we hail: Warm, Relaxed, and with minimal family around. One would think that a destination wedding would be easy, without the stresses all so common in the traditional affairs. I was sadly mistaken. I only wanted a few things: 1) a classy wedding atmosphere; 2) wonderful food; and 3) a bartender to provide our guests with our two signature cocktails aptly named "the Casey" and "the Joe." I didn't think this was too much to ask for, especially for a small group of people. Then the problems began, I called several caterers and many would not get back to me. A few called me back, but they were not very accommodating, and they all sounded a bit shady over the phone. That was until we hired a wedding planner, Peggy Russel from Destination Wedding Studios ( destinationweddingstudio… ), she was wonderful. Peggy's first instinct was to contact Amy Lay from Catered Affairs of Key West. While I wanted to shop around a bit, I knew soon after speaking with Amy on the phone that she was the one. Amy was friendly and accommodating. We went through about 20 menu changes, and she never got frustrated with me (or more importantly at least never let on that she was frustrated with me). The wedding was supposed to occur at a house we rented on Simonton Avenue, outdoors near the pool area. The Chef, Lloyd Gould, showed up with Amy the day before the wedding and we planned the layout around the pool area. I thought everything was all set and ready, and all I had to worry about was my perfectly coiffed hair. Then Tropical Storm Andrea hit. Our beach wedding and outdoor reception was not going to happen. Let us just say Bridezilla (kidding...really I'm just kidding) and I melted down. Luckily for us, Amy and the Catered Affairs came to our rescue. Amy and her Husband showed up to our place on the morning of our wedding and offered the 2nd and 3rd tier of their restaurant for our wedding ceremony and reception. They actually closed down a large portion of the Trattoria Oceanside for us for no additional charge. This could have been a HUGE financial hit for the restaurant, but they did this without thinking twice. Skip ahead: the space the beautiful, the ceremony was WAY better inside in the air condition overlooking the beach (without getting sand in places better not named), "the Casey" and "the Joe" was prepared perfectly by the bartender, and the food...well that deserves a new paragraph. Knowing that Key West was near Cuba and the Caribbean Islands we wanted to showcase that culture in our foods. Being fully aware La Trattoria is traditionally an Italian Restaurant we took a risk and it totally paid off. Chef Lloyd nailed the Cuban and Caribbean flavors perfectly. We started with Brie en croute with raspberry (ok that's not Carribean, but it sounded really good and was). We also started with an antipasto plate (wonderful) and sliced/pressed Cuban sandwiches that people could enjoy with their cocktails. As the Chef told me, I may be a Jewish boy from up north, but I think I nailed the Cuban sandwich. That he did. For dinner we had jerk chicken breasts with a berry chutney, and some grilled veggies. Though these were delicious, the stand out winner of the evening was the Mojo-marinated pulled pork with rice and beans and perfectly caramelized sweet plantains. This was just an amazing meal, that our guests raved about. Overall, Catered Affairs and LaTrattoria Oceanside was incredibly accommodating and FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. They showcased the food wonderfully, let me play my own wedding playlist, and most importantly allowed my bride to beam that beautiful smile of hers which made me know I made the best decision of my life.

This place exceeded all of my expectations! I was celebrating my parents 33rd wedding anniversary and used Yelp to determine where to take them for this special night while in Key West. La Trattoria Oceanside is a fine dining Italian restaurant and had stellar reviews but to be honest the reviews didn't do it any justice. I made a reservation using open table and we arrived about 15 minutes earlier than the reserved time and were sat right away. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and our server Anthony was first class. Anthony helped us pick out a great bottle of red wine for the occasion. We started off with homemade bread and olive oil/balsamic glaze/Parmesan cheese dip. It was delish!! For appetizers we got the mushrooms, prosciutto and melon, and bruschetta...the plates were just short of being licked clean. For dinner, our table got fettuccine Alfredo, Osso Bucco, Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Picatta and Lasagna. All dishes were huge but we managed to eat all of the food because it was so good. Even though the dinner was huge, we all saved room for dessert. My parents received free dessert for their anniversary and the table ordered canolis, cheesecake, ice cream tiramisu and espresso. I was beyond thrilled by the quality of service we received. Anthony and the rest of the staff made sure our water glasses were never empty, cleared off our table efficiently and provided service with a smile. When we come back to Key West in the future, we will stop back.

I was really looking forward to a nice Italian dinner on Key West, but was rather disappointed in this choice. First, the parking lot behind the restaurant was not a great choice as it was rather dark and I was not comfortable exposing my wife to that element. We wound up parking along the road near Benihana's and walking a ways to get to the door. Our waitress was new that night and was the least attentive waitperson I have encountered in some time. It's one thing to be busy taking care of other tables, but to be non-existent is not good. Thank goodness for the gentleman that brought bread to the tables because he also filled our water glasses. For the food, my wife ordered a shrimp scampi which was very good. I asked if they had any whole wheat spaghetti for spaghetti bolognese. She checked and said they did. WHen it came to the table (served by someone other than our waitress), it was NOT spaghetti but penne pasta and there was NO sauce on the dish, just hamburger. It was like eating hamburger helper. Although the taste was ok, the lack of sauce made for an unacceptable meal. The manager came by later and was apologetic for the meal and the lack of attention from this new waitress. Sorry, guys, but this one was not a good experience.

Great food! Went early and enjoyed the view before sunset. Everything in Key West is pricey, so can't really complain about that. :)

Awesome special of the day was a skilled seared hogfish over some amazing pancetta cornbread with green beans. Some of the best fish I've had. Bread with olive oil and balsamic was delicious, and the tiramisu (house made) was great. The Oceanside views and location away from the bustle of downtown were both strong points. Parking is no problem.

Despite living in Key West for forty years, I had never had the pleasure of dining at this establishment. I shouldn't have waited this long! Unlike most of Key West's better restaurants, La Trattoria had ample parking, a big plus in my book. I read another review where a diner had concerns about the safety of this parking lot. That individual had nothing to worry about! Street thuggery is exceedingly rare in Key West, and this would be one of the most unlikely settings for that to occur. I am a Key West cab driver with 27 years under my belt. I know this town. This place is 100% safe! I had made reservations, so my date and I did not have to wait for seating. The ambiance was wonderful. The noise level was low enough that Cara and I could converse comfortably despite my hearing loss. The offerings on the menu were tantalizing and diverse, and that evening's special, hogfish, is a local delicacy. I ordered the house Tortellini, and Cara ordered seafood ravioli. For an appetizer, we split an antipasto that was very nice. Our waiter was attentive, kept our beverages filled, and delivered our orders at the perfect moments. My tortellini was spectacular! Despite having a bad cold, the multitude of flavors were readily apparent, a perfect balance of cheese tortellini, Italian sausage, tomato sauce studded with flavorful chunks of fresh tomato, and mushrooms. It was, perhaps, the best Italian entree I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Cara was enthralled with her ravioli, which I believe contained shrimp and lobster, both local catches. When our check arrived, it was not as pricy as I expected. Considering the overall experience, we certainly got a real good value for our money. There are many fine restaurants in Key West, and my budget does not allow me to visit them too often. I love good food, and I always enjoy discovering a new and wonderful place. That aside, I will most certainly return here in the future. I just can't imagine a nicer dining experience!

We've been to La Trattoria before and enjoyed it but last night was a bit of a comedy of errors. We were seated promptly at our 7pm reservation time in the front room, which has a lovely ocean view. TIP: Go early so you make the most of the view. Our waiter was sweet but appeared overworked, as did most of the wait staff. He took our drink order but then didn't return for at least 20 minutes to ask what wine we had ordered. Our food took a similarly long time. All in all, it was a 2+ hour meal. The food was okay -- decent far diablo, ok lobster bisque, and solid steak. The hogfish with a bacon-cream sauce was odd. Really too heavy a sauce for the fish.

Avoid the dipping olive oil.... A good location and nicely fitted out. Our server was efficient and pleasant and our dishes tasty. The place has a reserved and subtle ambiance and is a refreshing alternative to Duval street. It's easy to park, their prices are fair and you will leave in a relaxed and stomach filled manner. The only negatives were the bread which was fairly bland and the olive dipping oil which was really rather nasty.....avoid that and you should have a good time.

It's nice to get away from the Duval St scene and this restaurant is a great choice; most tables have an ocean view. Nice ambience; quiet. We had the seafood salad, lobster bisque, chicken soup, lasagna, and the beef filet. All were terrific. Attentive but not intrusive server.

This place is the epitomy of meh. Our group of five stopped in during a vacation stop in Key West after several in our party expressed a desire for Italian. Service was good--polite, friendly, and efficient. The bread was quite tasty as well. But that was kind of where things went downhill. Much spaghetti and lasagna was ordered by the group and, overall, it was all underwhelming. The biggest problem for all of these dishes was the seasoning, or more specifically, the lack there of. Use some salt people. Seriously, the food was just bland bland bland. Not truly awful per se, just meh really. This probably would have been passable (as in 3 stars) fare at an Olive Garden or something, but here? At these prices? No. If it wasn't for the good service this would have been one star, but as it is, I'll give two and call it a day.

I loved this place! Went here for a book club meeting and the service, ambiance and food were excellent. I started with some type of potato soup that was highly recommended by the waiter and it was very good, but not jazz-hands great. I ordered cannelloni for dinner and that dish was fantastic! I had leftovers, which I always love. Two of the girls I went with ordered martinis. They have a wide selection of specialty martinis on the menu. And it seemed that everyone enjoyed their meal. No real complaints. I was pleased with the friendly, attentive service, the food and the beautiful views of the ocean. I will definitely be back!!

I travel a lot and eat at very nice places often. This is a very nice place. Slightly upscale atmosphere, but good prices (4 of us ate w 2 appetizers, wine and 2 deserts for under $200). Food was very good. Nice wine selection w a variety of prices everything from Piedemont Barolos to inexpensive Merlots and Malbecs. The pasta was phenomenal, veal was incredible, antipasti was also very good. The key lime pie was to die for. I would strongly recommend this establishment if you want a nice dining experience w a great ocean view.

Second time I've been here. Fantastic view! Wonderful staff! Great bar. Nice wine. Loved the mint and chick pea soup. The Gnocci with gorgonzola was quite good. Same with the tortollini. Bread was cold this time, which was a disappointment from last time.

The food and service were amazing. We had such a great experience from start to end. We went with a bunch of kids which they accommodated to wonderfully and the kids loved the food. They had half portions for them at reasonable prices which was an added plus. We went with 6 adults and everyone raved about the food. Everything was wonderful, from the appetizers to the dessert. It was definitely the best meal we've ever had in Key West. Actually, it was the best meal we've had in a long time everywhere! We look forward to going to Key West again and will definitely make it a point to go there to eat!

Plenty of parking which is a bonus in Key West. Dinner was wonderful. One of the top key lime pies in Key West.
